Dafi Kühne on the FAG Control 900: ‹This is the largest proofpress at babyinktwice. I use it for large poster works or for landscape-format split fountains. About ‹Bleilaus›

It started at some point on a cold winter day in the year 2010. After several month of being on the lookout without any success, I got a call from an old printer who was in possession of an old FAG Swiss Proof 40. Since he had no usage anymore, he offered me his whole studio with several drawers and the press itself. I agreed at the drop of a hat. I was able to pick up a first load which consisted the press and a single drawer. Temporarily, I sheltered them in a small garage without power. That was long ago. Since then, I've been building up a small studio in an old cardboard factory. I do work with lead, wood type as well as contemporary methods like adhesive foil and lino- or woodcuts. Besides creating free work I started getting my first small orders. Whether business cards, posters or invitations I always enjoy combining my learned graphic design skills with the craftsmanship in letterpress.

Studio: Book Art Museum, Lodz, Poland

Pawel Tryzno on the FAG under license: ‹According to Mr. Grebien (Former Chief Engineer at FAG Manufactury Avenches) FAG once had a deal with Korrex that if someone would order a press that had to be bigger than the FAG Control 900, they would deliver a Korrex Hamburg Kraft (thats the name of this model) and label it with a FAG plaquette.

So this press is actually a Korrex Hamburg Kraft labeled as a FAG.›

About ‹Book Art Museum›

Book Art Museum is one of the most magical places in the city of Lodz. Its magic comes from the natural way in which books seem to combine their past with their future. This is a place where you can experience the versatility of book form, get as close as to touching the materials used, witness the old-style publishing process and get in touch with the gist of changes that books undergo throughout the centuries. Here in the museum new books come to life as well as exhibition projects and programmes using computer science for education and promotion purposes.
At the same time antique printing devices are being collected and restored, and the historical interiors are being renovated.
