About ‹Begiaundi Press›
Begiaundi Press is a project initiated by the graphic design firm Estudio Lanzagorta, in 2014.
It is a letterpress printing workshop for graphic experimentation and research, aimed to produce limited print editions on a typographic press, using both lead and wood movable type, as well as other materials, from linoleum, MDF, plexiglass, cardboard... to espadrille soles and coins.
[Begiaundi in Basque means «big eye», and names a large squid, an animal which protects itself expelling its own ink].

Iñaki Granell on the FAG Control 405: ‹At the Escola Massana, Arts & Design Center in Barcelona since 1929, we use our FAG Control 405 for proofing our letterpress compositions, linocut and photopolymer plates in Typography, one of the main subjects in Graphic Design Vocational Training Degree.
It works as its very first day and it's already part of our family here. "She" is very much appreciated by the students, who have the opportunity of experiencing on traditional letterpress, which today is pedagogically invaluable in the digital environment of our craft.›
