About ‹Atelier It Plein 19›
‘We’ as the «Atelier It Plein 19» may have begun as ‘my atelier’ in 1974 (with an etching press and one 52 x 76 cm letter press), but since 1985 it changed to be a joined atelier for three artists working very closely together (specialising in book making from idea, till finished book, and international presentation).
Since then this has not changed too much, only from the original three there is just me left active (over 67 now and not ‘too active’ as the FAG - letterpress is concerned; the poor thing is to be revised, but the entire atelier is in a state of ‘redoing’ in order to have it ready for (hopefully) a next generation / but surely to have it open to the public with a museum function (the machines and the actual work that comes from them).

I use this press on a daily base in my studio. Besides of the FAG Control 800, I also use a Heidelberg KSBA, a tabletop LMW American No.8, a Dainippon Screen KF 124-GL (that is pretty similar to the FAG), a Krause litho press and a huge Julien litho press and an Artley gravure press.›

About ‹Book Art Museum›
Book Art Museum is one of the most magical places in the city of Lodz. Its magic comes from the natural way in which books seem to combine their past with their future. This is a place where you can experience the versatility of book form, get as close as to touching the materials used, witness the old-style publishing process and get in touch with the gist of changes that books undergo throughout the centuries. Here in the museum new books come to life as well as exhibition projects and programmes using computer science for education and promotion purposes.
At the same time antique printing devices are being collected and restored, and the historical interiors are being renovated.

About ‹Die Lettertypen›

About ‹edition carpe plumbum›
Carpe Plumbum is a workshop for letterpress and relief printing, located in the “Spinnerei” in Leipzig – a former Cotton factory
that now hosts artists, designers and galleries.
In the workshop hundreds of typecases and several presses (from 3 FAG proof presses to the 70x100cm “Präsident” Cylinder press) offer varied possibilities for printwork.
I work together with artists and designers, printing cards and small editions, as well as larger editions such as posters and books; for example all the original graphic LUBOK books are printed here. See www.lubok.de for more.

About ‹Hand & Eye Letterpress›
One of the very few remaining jobbing letterpress printers in the UK, Hand & Eye was started by Phil Abel in 1985, equipped with an Adana 8x5, an Arab treadle platen, a passion for good printing and a pile of typographic journals. The presses are long gone, but the passion remains, and he hopes that we continue, in a small way, the legacy of great twentieth century printers like the Curwen Press. As well as providing a high quality service for our customers, we also print and publish our own fine book editions, and occasionally make our own posters and ephemera. For estimates, sales & enquiries, email phil@handandeye.co.uk.
Also employed at Hand & Eye is Nick Gill, a writer and musician who was lured into letterpress when he wanted to make CD covers. He is the enthusiastic custodian of our Monotype Composition caster and Super caster, which he runs, services and strips down when needed. As well as setting copy for our own jobs on our computer-driven Composition Caster, Hand & Eye Foundry sells founts of type, and various sizes of leading and spacing material. A full list of our matrices is available on our website, and enquiries can be directed to monotype@handandeye.co.uk.
We have 2 week internships that run all year round; applications can be sent to internships@handandeye.co.uk

About ‹Hofer›
Hofer is a small letterpress print studio specialising in the design and print of graphic, limited edition greetings cards and posters.
The studio was born from a passion for letterpress printing developed over many hours spent in the composing room whilst studying for an MA in communications at The Royal College of Art.
We are interested in the abstraction of the shapes and forms found in nature and in the character and integrity of moveable wood block type as a means of communication.
Flurorescents, colour gradients and metallics are a speciality.

About ‹Museum der Arbeit›
Our printshop is part of the Museum of Work in Hamburg, Germany. Our print workshop is equipped with a Heidelberg OHZ, a Heiderlberg OHT, a Linotype from 1926 and a Monotype from around 1960 – all in working condition.
We have daily demontrations on Monotype and Linotype typecasting, single type casting, wood type cutting and typesetting. We are always producing something... We also do demonstrations for schools and even birthday parties.
The workshop is run voluntarily by retired typesetters and printmakers.

About ‹R.B. Typolab (BfGZ/ZHdK)›
R.B. Typolab (BfGZ/ZHdK) is a university workshop based in Zürich. It arose from a fusion of two workshops (Werkstätte f. Typographie und Buchdruck BfGZ / Typowerkstatt HGKZ, today ZHdK) in the year 2000.
Rudolf Barmettler uses this workshop as an introduction to typography for first year students of the Visual Communication Department (ZHdK) as well as for interdisciplinary typographic induction weeks of the Department of Design (ZHdK). Additionally he has been been teaching an evening workshop (40 evenings a year) for over 10 years now. BfGZ teacher René Wäger and Gilde Gutenberg teach Polygraf aprentices in the second year. In the workshop there are about 650 cases of lead type, wood type, bakelite type and magnesium type. Besides the 3 FAG proofpresses there there are other pieces of equipment that include a Vandercook Uni IV (Serial 21477), a Heidelberg Platen press, a Giez platen press, some waxing machines, a FAG heavy duty saw trimmer and some more...
Rudolf Barmettler's students mostly produce business cards, invitation cards, flyers, cd-covers, book-covers, posters and poster series, calendars, poetry books, magazines, proofs and lots of printing experiments.

It is a part of a larger exhibition «Our town», which is about doing all sorts of things together. The press was important media for the Labour movement. What is significant, that this part of the exhibition is «living», that is, you can see all sorts of printing press activities in real life using the same methods that were in use in letterpresses. This exhibition has gained some interest in modern typographers also.›

About ‹The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas›
The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas is based in the historical Finlayson cotton mill area right in the heart of Tampere. At Werstas, you can visit the Textile Industry Museum, the Steam Engine Museum as well as the Labour Museum's changing and permanent exhibitions.
The exhibitions at Werstas offer an overview of the history of the industrial era, worker population and civil society from different perspectives. The constantly refreshed exhibitions present the most interesting events from the history of social issues, workers’ culture, visual arts and politics. At Werstas, ordinary people take centre stage and their everyday lives, work and the differences between them are recounted in the form of memorable stories. Werstas is a versatile museum with a difference.
The Finnish Ministry of Education has nominated The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, a national special museum with extensive responsibility for museum activities pertaining to working life and social history in Finland.
